The city of Bad Ischl is undergoing an architectural and cultural transformation to be the Haupt Stadtt 2024. The building from the 60s will make way for a new one. The studio project bases the Lehar theatre as a flux in this transition. The output of the studio will be exhibited inside the Lehar theatre. The student work along with other artists in residence will inform the people of this cultural transition through the medium of the theatre.
Students begin by identifying objects in the environment, from physical objects to digital objects. They understand their shape, their meaning, their context, their relationship to themselves and to their surroundings. The objects are modeled and better understood through the immersive medium of virtual reality. An intensive study of 3d printed real objects together with digital objects experienced in a VR headset will define the way forward.
